    IRAQ : FIFTEEN IRAQI GUARDS KILLED

    Fifteen Iraqi National Guards were killed close to the town of Latifiya, southwest of the capital, according to the Iraqi Minister of Defense.

    Even if not officially confirmed they were probably killed by an explosion on the roadside.

    IRAQ : THOUSANDS PROTESTERS AGAINST U.S. IN BAGHDAD

    Protesters were marching in the Iraqi capital today against the presence of the US troops and for a quick trial of Saddam Hussein. One of the main chant was "No America! No Saddam! Yes to Islam!", most of the people were supporters of the Shia cleric al-Sadr.

    YEMEN : DOZENS KILLED IN GUNBATTLE

    A source speaking in condition of anonimity told the press on Friday that dozens of fighters and troops were killed in clashes in the northwestern province of Saada.

    "More than 70 followers of (Shaikh Husain Badr al-Din al-Huthi) were killed in the fighting which went on throughout Wednesday and until Thursday night" and

    "Dozens of troops were killed or wounded, particularly when counter-terrorism units parachuted onto mountain tops overlooking the rebels' strongholds in Razamat and Wadi Nushur (Nushur Valley) on Thursday," the source continued.

    EGYPT : BOMB KILLS TWO IN A BAZAR

    A bomb exploded in a bazar in Egypt killing two tourists and wounding 18 people on Thursday. The bomber apparently placed a booby-trap motorbike in a crowded spot and died himself, as referred by a witness.

    SAUDIS : "BIG FISH" KILLED

    According to Saudi security officials an important member of al-Quaeda was killed among the other 15 terrorists in a series of gunbattle in Riyadh during the last week. Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Mohammed Yazj was one of the most wanted criminals of the terrorist organization, he died on Wednesday morning.

    Jalal Talibani was hailed by several different countries the day after he was elected the new president of the Iraqi parliament. Other Foreign Ministers underlined the importance of a multi-ethnic government.

    AFGHANISTAN : HELICOPTER CRASH 13 US SOLDIERS DEAD

    Ghazi city, southwest of Kabul, the Ch-47 Chinook crashed on the ground killing 13 people out 16, according to the US military. They were all American srvice personnel.

    ISRAEL :BUSH STOPS EXPANSION

    President Bush responded negatively to the Israeli intention of expanding the illegal settlement of Maale Adumim outside Jerusalem. The request already caused troubles with the Palestinian leaders, but the American president wanted to make clear that there will be no expansion of any illegal settlement under the US-backed road map to the peace.

    "Our position is very clear, that the road map is important, and the road map calls for no expansion of the settlements," said Bush adding that, "I'm optimistic that we can achieve a peace in the holy land. I'm optimistic because I firmly believe that Ariel Sharon wants to have a peaceful partner, wants there to be a democracy in the Palestinian territories." He also claimed to be optimistic about Sharon's intention in that territory,

    "I believe Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas wants the same thing. And there's a lot of hard work to be done, but we're making progress."

    IRAQ : JALAL TALABANI IS THE NEW INTERIM PRESIDENT

    Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani was chosen by the Iraqi parliament to be the new interim president of the country.Talabani founded the PUK in 1975 (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan), he will togheter with two vice presidents, Ghazi al-Yawir (current interim president) and Adil Abd al-Mahdi.

    IRAQ : US CONVOY OPENS FIRE ON CIVILLIANS

    On Thursday 20-01-05 at 8:16 A.M, a US convoy opened fire with apparently no reason on a group of Ford GMCs driven by Iraqi civillians killing five people and injuring many others. The group of cars was heading to Amman.

    IRAQ : US SOLDIERS KILLED, BODIES FOUND

    Two US soldiers and a Iraqi were killed during a gunbattle on Monday in the northeast of Baghdad.

    "Coalition forces and Iraqi army soldiers encountered and attacked terrorist forces in a remotely populated region east of Baghdad at about 4pm (1200 GMT) on 4 April," claims the military statement.

    Another US marine died in an explosion in the troubled al-Anbar province as the military satement says, "The marine was killed by an explosion during combat operation.

    A general of the Iraqi army was apparently abducted by a group of armed man in the Masur district of Baghdad.

    The bodies of 10 executed Iraqi soldier were found in the Jurf al-Sakhr area, south of the capital.

    IRAQ : CAR BOMBS AND CLASHES, SIX KILLED

    Two bombs exploded in Baghdad, killing three people. The first bomb was heard exploding close to the airport, killed two Iraqis and dameged buildings nearby.
    The second car bomb exploded on the way of a US convoy in the southern al-Dura area of the capital. A civillian was wounded and another killed.

    IRAQ : Abu Ghraib Attacked Again

    Another blast hit the Iraqi prison on Monday, five people and some US soldiers were injured when a car bomb exploded in front of the main gate. This is the second attack during the last two days against the Abu Ghraib prison. On Saturday, fighters detonated two car bombs and fired grenades toward the security forces wounding more than forty US soldiers.

    SAUDI ARABIA : 8 INSURGENTS KILLED IN GUNBATTLE

    Insurgents are fighting against the police in the town of al-Ras, 350km nothwest of Riyadh. According to military sources, 8 fighters were killed on Monday while one policeman was shot dead and 15 others wounded.

    IRAQ : OFFICIAL SPEAKER ELECTED BY THE PARLIAMENT

    Hajim al-Hassani is the official speaker elected by the Iraqi interim parliament,

    "The Iraqi people have proven that they can overcome the political crisis that has plagued the country for the last two months," he told the press after th election.

    A Shia Muslim, Mr Shahristani and a Kurdish, Aref Taifour, were elected as well to be his deputies.
