    LEBANON : BLAST WOUNDS 22

    A strong blast was heard this morning in the city of Jounieh, situated in the northern christian area of the country, 22 people were wounded in the explosion.

    IRAQ : IRAQI MISSING FUNDS

    A huge "hole" of about $100 million found by the Audit, with the Senator Russ Feingold talking about "fraud possibilities". Iraq is facing now one of the most complicated problems on the way to reconstruct the country, fruad and disorganization.

    IRAQ : SEVENTEEN PEOPLE KILLED IN BAGHDAD EXPLOSION

    Four US citizens were among the victims saturday's explosion in Baghdad.
    As a foreign security convoy passed by a busy intersection a car bomb exploded, killing sventeen people and wounding more than thirty.

    "According to the latest toll, there are 13 Iraqi civilians killed and four foreigners whose bodies were completely charred," said an official.

    PALESTINE : FATAH WINS LOCAL POLLS

    The Fatah movement headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has largely won municipal elections in the occupied territories. According to Firas Iari, responsible for the electoral commission, the Fatah movement has won 59.9% of the votes while Hamas won about 33.3%.

    AFGHANISTAN : 64 REBELS KILLED

    The most violent battle in Afghanistan since nine months left 64 rebels dead along with nine Afghan soldiers. Some American soldiers were wounded in the attacks.

    "There was an estimated 20 killed in action," said Leiutenant Cindy Moore.

    EGYPT : 400 MUSLIMS ARRESTED BY POLICE

    Hundreds of protesters against the Egyptian President Mubarak were arrested by the Security forces after many rallies helded nationwide. Police forces apparently had to arrest 400 protesters because, according to an official source, "The detained people insisted on gathering and demonstrating without authorisation, thus threatening public order."

    IRAQ 25 PEOPLE KILLED IN ATTACKS

    Twenty-five people killed in Iraq during the last two days for bombings, clashes, attacks. A bomb exploded in a recruiting point in in al-Muthana killed 15 people.

    PAKISTAN : Al-QUAEDA'S MAN ARRESTED

    Abu Faraj al-Libbi, a Lybian native suspected of collaboration with al-Quaeda was arrested on Tuesday morning by the Pakistani Security forces. He is probably responsaible for the December 2003 bombing against the Pakistani President Musharaff which killed seventeen people, leaving the President alive.

    TURKEY : SCHROEDER CALLS FOR DEMOCRATIC REFORMS IN TURKEY

    German Cancelor Gerard Schroeder has urged Turkey to move ahaed with several democratic reforms to fit the European community. Schroeder also wants the christian communities in Turkey to be better considered and welcomed.

    "Religious freedom is a European principle," said the Cancelor. "It is indisputable and is valid for Turkey as well. People should freely practice their religions."

    IRAQ : A BOMB IN A RECRUIT POINT

    A Bomb exploded ina recruit point in the city of Arbil on Wednesday killing 50 people and wounding at least 90. The victims were waiting in lines, applying for Iraqi Police jobs, when the bomb exploded.

    IRAQ : US SOLDIERS KILL 12 IN A RAID

    According to a statement, six US soldiers were wounded in clashes close to the Syrian border on Tuesday. The document says they were involved in a unfight against al-Quaeda suspected members. The soldier followed a truck untill the town of al-Qaim where a gunbattle started.

    "Before the occupants in the vehicle could reach their destination the commander of the operation decided to interdict the vehicle; upon stopping the truck, the suspected insurgents opened fire on Coalition forces," said the statement.

    IRAN : EUROPE WANTS TO DISCUSS ABOUT NUCLEAR

    Mohamed ElBaradei, UN nuclear chief, said that it is necessary to keep talking about the nuclear issue between Europe and Iran. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan wotked in the same direction already.

    "I would hope that the Iranians will not take any unilateral decisions to initiate any activities that now are currently suspended. I think that any future move has to be agreed between both parties," ElBaradei told the press.

    ISRAEL : ERDOGAN MEETS SHARON

    Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan met Ariel Sharon in his first visit to Israel which is meant to develope a peaceful relation with the country.

    "I came here to contribute to the peace process in the Middle East," said the Trukish Premerier,

    "I believe this visit will certainly help the creation of a positive atmosphere in the Middle East and will allow the advance of political processes and, with God's help, we will reach peace," said Sharon.

    ISRAEL : TURKISH PRIME MINISTER DIPLOMATIC VISIT

    Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Prime Minister is officially in Israel for a diplomatic visit meant to promote Turkey as a middleastern peacemaker.

    "Our good relations with Israel do not preclude us from making frank criticism," said the Premier.

    "My visit will hopefully provide a new impetus to our relationship."

    EGYPT : 200 PEOPLE ARRESTED AFTER SATURDAY'S CLASHES

    Egyptian police forces have arrested more than 200 people in the Shubra al-Khaima district, as a result of Saturday's clashes that killed three people and wounded 10.

    According to police sources, "Around 200 people were arrested, some briefly, during police operations in the slums of Ezbet al-Gabalawi, Al-Amar and Ezbet Rushdi, where the families of the perpetrators and people implicated in the three attacks ... live."
