PALESTINE : IS ISRAEL LEAVING OR NOT?The official position of the Israeli government on the withdrawal from the occupied territories, scheduled for this summer, hasn't changed. However, something appears to be different, as the Chief Palestinian negotiator Saib Uraiqat has told al-Jazeera about Israel's actual intent, which, according to him, is not to follow the pull-back plan.
"The Gaza withdrawal is preoccupying the media. Yes, they [Israeli soldiers] are leaving Gaza but they are also taking tracts of land in the West Bank. Israeli spokesmen stress they are 'only' taking 8% when we should be holding peace negotiations," said Uraiquat.
