According to the police five Iraqi soldiers and a policeman were killed close to Samarra and Kirkuk, on Saturday.
A group of fighters against the foreign troops in Iraq ambushed a checkpoint close to the west of the Sunni Muslim region of Samarra killing four Iraqi soldiers as reported by liutenent Col. Mahmud Muhammad.
Another soldier was shot dead in north of Samarra as fighters were attacking an Iraqi army patrol, according to a police source.
A policeman was killed and four others wounded (one of them seriously) by an insurgents' attack to a police checkpoint nearby a United States base outside Kirkuk, said Turhan Yussif, police chief of the city.
