According to al-Jazeera sources a truck bomb exploded today in the centre of Baghdad just while a US military convoy was passing by, killing at least four people and wounding several others.
Tahrir Square, situated in the centre of the capital, is a very busy commercial street full of shops and markets.
As the blast happened the place became full of dangerous chunks of hot metal and wreckage flying around.
A paramedic at the Kindi hospital said that they received two dead and on wounded person.
Sources from another hospital were talking about another four wounded.
Ziyad al-Samarrai, an Iraqi correspondent for al-Jazeera, said no US soldiers were involved in the attack and Iraqi police came immediately to seal off the area.
