USA Used White Phosphorous Against Insurgents In FallujahThe Pentagon announced on Tuesday that U.S. troops were using White Phosphorous bullets against insurgents in the battle for Fallujah. Lt. Col.
Barry Venable, a Pentagon spokesman, said that WP "was not used against civilians," but only to mark targets at night.
"There is a great deal of misinformation feeding on itself about U.S. forces allegedly using `outlawed' weapons in
Fallujah," said Venable, adding that, "The facts are that U.S. forces are not using any illegal weapons in Fallujah or anywhere else in Iraq."
Venabel was responding to the Italian
Tv "
Rai24 International" which showed a documentary about the Fallujah's battle last week that reported an intense and indiscriminate use of WP by the U.S. troops.
